Wildlife Removal
Humane removal and exclusion for raccoons, squirrels, bats, skunks, and other wildlife that get into Illinois attics, chimneys, and crawl spaces.
Wildlife removal handles the larger animals that get into a house: raccoons in the attic, squirrels in the soffit, bats in the wall, skunks under the deck. It is different work from insect control. The animal has to come out without harm, the entry point has to be sealed, and the mess it left, soiled insulation, droppings, chewed wiring, has to be dealt with.
Illinois wildlife follows the seasons. Raccoons and squirrels look for sheltered den sites to raise litters in spring and summer, and an attic or chimney makes a good one. Bats use attics and wall voids as summer roosts. Skunks den under decks, sheds, and porches. Some Illinois species are protected and others have closed seasons, so removal needs to follow state wildlife rules, which a licensed operator will know.
What wildlife removal covers
- Raccoons in attics and chimneys, including dealing with a litter
- Squirrels in soffits, attics, and wall voids
- Bats roosting in attics and wall voids, handled with timing the law requires
- Skunks denning under decks, sheds, and porches
- Exclusion: sealing the entry points so the animal cannot return
- Cleanup of soiled insulation, droppings, and damage left behind
What to expect
- 1
Inspection
The operator identifies the animal, finds the entry point, and checks whether there is a litter that has to be handled before sealing.
- 2
Removal
The animal is removed humanely with trapping or one-way exclusion doors, following Illinois wildlife regulations.
- 3
Exclusion
Entry points get sealed with heavy-gauge material that the animal cannot chew or force back through.
- 4
Cleanup and repair
Soiled insulation and droppings are removed and the damaged area is cleaned, with larger restoration quoted as needed.
What it costs in Illinois
Smaller wildlife jobs in Illinois are priced by the species and the work involved. Squirrel removal with exclusion generally runs $200 to $600. Raccoon removal runs $300 to $700, more if there is a litter to handle. Skunk removal runs $300 to $600.
A full attic job, removal plus exclusion plus cleanup and insulation replacement, can run $800 to $3,000 or more. The cost is driven by the species, how many animals are involved, how hard the entry points are to seal, and how much damage there is to remediate. Bat work is its own case, since the law restricts when a roost can be excluded to avoid trapping flightless young.
